James & Maria Organic Co has a strange beginning. James has a background in non-profit work in Colombia since 2001 and has traveled to many countries working with different organizations that serve the local communities. Maria is a Colombia national and traveled in 2010 to the U.S. to continue and complete her educational studies in English and Business Management. After attending North Texas University and CFNI she met James at a local place of worship in the Dallas area.

While dating they had discussed different avenues of business opportunities in the Dallas area that would help Maria start a new platform business. After a short visit to a local friend in Rowlett, TX who owed a candle and fragrance company the mental wheels started turning. Nothing really progressed until after the two decided to get married on April 28, 2015 and needed a get away after a few months of adjusting to marriage :). They made a 3 day mini-vacation to Waco, TX to check out the hype with Magnolia Market and Chip & Joanna Gaines. While on this trip they talked with many vendors and boutique owners who where not satisfied with the candles and other products they where getting from larger companies.

Without a true knowledge of producing candles on their own they committed to a small flower cart in La Salle Shoppes in Waco's old highway "La Salle Ave"and the journey began. Heading home to start researching natural candles and the production process of the quality and more expensive candles lines they knew of and starting creating a JMOC unique process and blending of waxes with fragrances to accomplish a quality and highly fragrant product that people could afford. With a lot of help and effort from many people and quality  companies JMOC wouldn't be what it is today. A special thanks to family & friends who have endlessly help pour candles and make products to all hours of the night. And a huge hug to Trey from USG and Kim & Tim for all your advice and hardwork.
